In the last 40 years no one really contributed something that has the same standard than the stuff from 70´s. Not really true though.

Well I think Ritchie has already written more songs than John.
Splitting hairs I known.
It’s less about who is more status quo and more about “who do I like”
I’ve no real interest in seeing the contemporary Quo. I would say they can lay claim to being Status Quo. I’ve seen both. Coghlan quo in about 2000 at Sutton theatre. There were 9 people there. John plays pubs and steam rallies. It seems the public agree with me.

YesI agree with a lot of the above but with the Backbone release there is definitely a bloodline of Quo through Francis onto the album. I can’t put my finger on it but that bit of Quo magic is on this new release imo. Then again I just maybe a 12 bar blues tragic. Totally agree with you

Simple answer John and his boys. Of course. Nobody could argue that.

I don't think either band actually includes any material from Quo in their current set list, so perhaps the the answer is, arguably, Neither.

But all to your own i say. Well, the bands being discussed are Status Quo & John Coghlan's Quo - rather surprising that a Status Quo fan would struggle with either of the names, tbh.
