I always thought he'd broken it up. Evidently not I'd make a bid but I'm a bit strapped at the moment. I'm short of, oh, about a hundred grand

I kind of understand the urge to move-on something that used to be important to you decades ago. Downsizing, and all that. But Rossi isn't superstitious, is he?
It's never going to tour again, what will the family do with it, hang it on the wall like "grandpa's medals"? It's a bit big for that. Better to convert it into cash and hope there's a buyer who will maybe display it somewhere so that people can take selfies with it, like the Mona Lisa.
(It seems like that is the measure of a famous work of art now.)

I felt v sad seeing and reading that. Then on reflection, I kind of understand. I'm nowhere near as old as Francis, but I'm wanting to rid myself of things I don't use these days, that I've hung on to for decades. Clearly of no interest to him or his family, so its going... Though shame it is all about the money these days.

He’d be better off burning it, doubt it’ll reach anywhere remotely close to £100k, but then again I’ll probably eat my own words.

Yep, sad alright. Having said that tho' it's been modded enough [nothing wrong with that, either!] to be 'not' the Tele I associate with FR in his 'prime' [?] Three pickups [incl. two hot rails] in a tele? - why not just get a superstrat and be done with it? Think if I was him, I'd probably shift it too but as I said before on here, really it belongs in a museum, with it's original pickguard + pickups configuration. imho, of course!

Francis is consolidating his wealth at the right time in his life as he can't go on for ever. The book tour and Backbone plus the band tour scheduled for next year are keeping him in the public eye. However, his long term fans are also ageing. Now is probably the most opportune time to sell as I doubt the green tele will increase much in value in the future. His family is important to him and I reckon he wants to leave them as much security as possible.

Absolutely his right to do what he wants with a battered unplayable Guitar that he owns. If he makes £100,000 then good on him. Some people overplay the significance of it ! It’s not a Hendrix Strat or a Beatles Rickenbacker for god sake. It’s just Quo !

I always believe that Francis has the right to do what he wants....but wouldn't it be great if the green and white teles were displayed somewhere together though, now neither of them are being used! Don't know where, but somewhere people could see them. They're important to Quo fans and interesting to other music fans. They are part of rock music history.

Why would he sell ?Doesnt need the money surely he’d leave it to his family Cheers He has a few bairns, so how would he decide which one to leave it too? Maybe they've said they don't want it. Selling it means that he can either bank the money for retirement (if he ever does retire) or split the proceeds between the family. Selling could mean there's no family bust up/hard feelings because of the guitar, once he's no longer with them.

Some reports say the proceeds from this sale are going to Nordoff Robbins.
