I was born in Sweden in the 80's so I discovered Quo in the late 90's. But I am thankful that it wasn't the music of the time that I heard first. I think I did it in the right order.
1. I got a PYE compilation from my dad when I was 11. He thought it was a compilation with classics from the 70's. This was the first time I ever heard about Quo. 2. When I had played the Pye compilation to a friend and he quite liked it he bought Never To Late and 3. Back to back by chance. 4. Then I heard 12 Gold Bars and realized that this band had done some really great music. 5. Then I borrowed Piledriver and 6. Blue For You on vinyl from another friend. 7. Next I bought Rock 'til You Drop by chance. This was my first time hearing Forty-Five Hundred Times. Now I am much more familiar to the 73' version. 8. The first mistake was when I bought Famous in the Last Century. It was the newest album at the time and I bought it by chance.
Recorded all these albums that I did not own on cassettes and with a couple of years later I bought all albums 1971-1985 on CD. Now I even have them on vinyl (except the Pye compilation which I have another one).

1. I won OTL in 1976 in a pop quiz from a magazine but didn't get to listen to it really until 1978 1a. Got Rocking all over the world and If you can't stand the heat on casette from a class mate in 1977 and 1978 2. Bought MKGS, DOTH, PD, Hello, Quo, BFY and Live within weeks after having the casettes in 1978 and was blown away by them and OTL. 3. Got 3 pye compilations plus the compilation Just for the record a few weeks later in 1978 4. From 1978 on I kept following them and buying every new album. 5. First mistake came when I bought Back to Back blind in 1983. 6. Still bought ITAN, AC and PR which I wish I hadn't from 1985 on. 7. RTYD I bought in 1991 after listening to it first and enjoyed it. 8. TW I bought after listening in 1994 and although it wasn't the Quo I had wanted I wasn't too displeased by it 9. Never bought DS and FMITLC but downloaded them purely for the collection 10. From 1999 on I downloaded all albums and basically enjoyed only UTI, QPQ and TPAOY. 11. Downloaded BQ and the Aquostic albums purely for the collection but never listen to them 12. Downloade Backbone and am still enjoying it big time

(All vinyl here folks!...] 'Again and Again' single when it was released [played to DEATH!] IYCSTH album [and wondered what happened to the 'heavier' sound of the A+A single!] Piledriver [and rediscovered the real 'heavier' sound!] Hello & DOTH [2nd hand from the original Dandelion market in Dublin - what a discovery they were!] Live! ["THIS is what I'm talkin' about!"] Quo [ Ultimate heavy-rock Quo; Blown away! - still am] OTL and BFY [classic but not up to 'Quo' and 'Hello' levels] WYW [ what a return to form] RAOTW [also a 2nd hand copy, and like IYCSTH - was left scratching my head again!] MKGS [Aha! so this is where it started!] Picturesque.., Status Quotations and Spare Parts [Truly Awful shite - played once and in the sleeves ever since] JS [good but not quite great, 'The Wild Ones', 'Name of the Game' and 'C+G' apart] NTL [for me, turned out to be the last great album - Love it still]
Then... 1982 [hmm, worried now!], BTB [largely, crap], ITAN [ definitely crap] and AC [gives crap a bad name - which finally finished me with them and I didn't return until I downloaded HT - I've remained completely unconvinced since then] Saw Status Quotes on here today and remember why I fell hook, link and sinker for the Quo I love!

i was 16 in in 1979 and just taking an interest in music. (as a kid Elvis was popular in our house, and the only LP's i'd been bought were "paint your wagon" soundtrack and a copy LP of "slade,Trex and Sweet", and Little Jimmy osmond and Benny Hill 7" singles which were xmas stockin fillers.) At school though, i had heard Boomtown Rats lookin after no1, Rainbow long live RnR and TCP by The Boys on sneaked in tape recorders...so pretty naive in respect of "new stuff"but certainly liking what i'd heard. unfortunately, The radio i heard in our house was allways Radio 2 , so it was all pop type stuff.... no rock. my QUO started with the song Again and Again. it was being played over and over (again and again even ), on the tannoy at Lancaster City FC . i never knew the song but, after about 10 listens it kinda got wedged in my noggin lol. i went straight to our local store 'ear 'ere records and basically sang the chorus and asked for the 7". they didn't have any, probs because it was fairly old by now and out of any charts. they did tell me they had 'Heat LP which it was on, so, i ended up buying that. i then continued over the next year or so buying the latest releases, WYW, and JS. a little time later, a pal of mine who had heard "caroline" and bought HELLO on the strength of that... introduced me to that album. (i hadn't dared just splash out my dosh on older albums for fear of them being crap.) i also bought Hello and we both went to see QUO at the end of the tour 31/5/1981. the night b4 my 18th birthday. ( i since found out JC only did one more gig before leaving... wow...just caught the FF.jammy or what?) that gig and the Hello album started me going backwards as well as buying the new stuff. OTL, BFY ,RAOTW, LIVE !, QUO , Piledriver , DOTH were acquired !! ,... interspersed however were the albums NTL, 1982, the blue tin (saving grace release) and B2B .... i never did buy Army!..you can imagine my pain as i was learning the likes of B2B a few weeks after first hearing DOTH !!?? it was never gonna end well was it ? that led to years of not bothering with Quo.... until, i dragged myself to see them again (thanks to the internet, i had no idea they were still going 20 odd years after i last bought an album, in fact the internet was what rekindled my love of music, and...broadened my horizons in a way i could never imagine without it.) I then purchased QPQ and the Aqoustic 1 and a 12 gold bars gold vinyl. also bula and QPQ box sets just for the hell of it really. and that's about it i think. can't see me ever bothering with the dozen or so albums since B2B and prior to QPQ , it's just too painful a thought, when i recollect my sheer joy in working back from IYCSTH that is. wow, look at all those words you can tell i'm sat home bored lol.

My first album was WYW in 79. Played it to death. I was 16 years old. Had been aware of Quo a bit before with RAOTW but a bit of a late developer with music.
I then had the joy of buying the previous albums on a random basis and in no special order. Oh the joy of hunting around the record shops seeing if the albums were on offer and buying one, roughly each month, as and when I had the money. I would then tape the album and put it in a plastic cover sleeve to protect it lol.
So pleased I got into the band then because if I had been introduced to them in 1970 to 1972 I would probably have found the stuff that was churned out in the eighties and onwards a bit hard to take but luckily i can still find some good in most of the albums with the exception of Bula and Aquostic 1 and 2.
Happy days looking back with the excitement of collecting the albums.

I remember liking the singles Mean Girl, Caroline (and loved Down Down) and enjoyed watching them on TOTP. I think I may have bought DD.....? Then went to see them with friends at the New Years Eve Olympia show and the rest is history! Bought Hello, Quo and OTL first and then excited for my first new release when Blue For You came out. Still remember how much I loved that cover, classic blue with the silver writing! Carried on buying the albums and seeing them live as often as I could until ITAN. I don’t think I bought that.....

The wrong way around!
1. "Burning Bridges" on Top Of The Pops in Dec 88 2. Knebworth 1990, taped off the radio 3. First LP - Ain't Complaining vinyl 4. RAOTW vinyl LP 5. The Pye compilations - must have owned at least four 6. Ma Kelly vinyl LP... and the rest is history!

Don't boot me off the board, but my journey began aged 8 in 1983 seeing them perform "Marguerita Time", and i bought into the whole cheeky chappie routine of Rossi & Parfitt from then on.
Bought my first piece of vinyl "Going Down Town Tonight" the year after. Nicked a copy of the "She Don't Fool Me" 7" out my cousin's room (he was much more into Motorhead so i figured he wouldn't miss it), then got "12 Gold Bars Vol 1 + 2" for Xmas '84.
After that it was a bit all over the place, buying up random albums, and copying tapes from the local library (Piledriver was one). Had a Pye compilation on tape too, which was obviously so dated and sounded a bit weird to my young ears.
When the ITAN album came out, it was a disappointment even to my 11 year old ears. "Ain't Complaining" sounded much better...was just hitting puberty and there seemed to be a lot of love songs on it which reflected my confused state of mind pretty well! Still love the album.
But inbetween all that, loved the FF stuff the most for its earthiness.
I even dressed up in a wig with a homemade wooden green/white Tele and mimed to the GDTT single infront of my class at primary school. The teacher wasn't impressed as i'd promised a puppet show! How very Spinal Tap!

It's hard to remember now 😂
I was one of many young fans they made from appearing on kids shows like Tiswas
WYP got me into Quo, I then got given a sleeveless 12GB and bought a cheap Pye compilation
Buying 70's Quo 2nd hand in the 80's was ultra cheap so I soon caught up
I bought NTL when it came out and had heard most of the albums by then. Couldn't tell you what order I heard them all
I continued to buy everything they did until they did Come on you Reds!
AQ2 is the only album I haven't bought. As protests go, mine were too little too late!

I first discovered Quo with Thirsty Work on cd in the early 90's, then about a year later discovered more Quo on vinyl at a second hand record shop. Never too Late, RAOTW, Blue For You, Hello & 1982 all for $2 each in a bargain area. Then ordered Rockin Thru The Years video and Rock 'til You Drop video at another music shop. Then bought Just For The Record book and then went to a Status Quovention in Melbourne 1996 & then saw them live in 1997. Then bought everything else since.

It's been a VERY long journey! I first noticed Quo with the single Down The Dustpipe, which I adored, but didn't acquire it till the following year (greater priorities with pocket money and paper round dosh in them days - Subbuteo teams and DC Comics for a start ). My first Quo purchase (well, my mum got it for me) was In My Chair. I'd asked for the latest by Blue Mink but she couldn't get it and got me Quo instead coz she knew I liked it. She bought me and my sister a single every month when she went into town. Didn't see them live till the Piledriver tour but from that cold, March evening in 1973, I was hypnotised and have worshipped at the alter ever since. Been a bit of a rollercoaster, certainly since the mid 80's, but I'm generally happy with my lot.

Started with some singles when I was 8 or 9, had Ol Rag Blues, Going Down Town Tonight & The Wanderer. Favourite track was Can’t Be Done, which I think was the b-side of the Wanderer. For Christmas 85 myself and my brother were given a walkman each and a tape to go with them, I got Back to Back, while he got a Shaky album.
At around this time I purchased 12 Gold Bars on second hand vinyl, though to be honest I only really got into Rockin’ All Over the World, the rest didn’t click with me. From then on I just got three singles, Army, Dreamin & Burning Bridges – all of which I loved.
Next saw them playing The Anniversary Waltz on Going Live, loved it and went straight out and bought it. Got the Rockin’ All Over the Years compilation, one of the first CDs I owned, which was my real gateway to earlier Quo.
The following summer, 1991, was when I got heavily into music, before then it was well behind sports and the ZX Spectrum in my list of interests. But from 1991 I became immersed in music, got Rock ‘Til You Drop on release and I can’t really tell you the order after that, whole load of albums and singles arrived in a short space of time.
