Gr8 post viza but ring of a change is 12 bar boogie To be honest I can't hear that it is. Maybe we have different definitions of what a 12 bar boogie is. To me the period of 12 bars fundamental in a 12 bar boogie.

At the time, I never really saw it as anything other than yet another brilliant album. The full length Mystery Song is still a wonder to behold.
In retrospect and after several decades, it's still a magnificent album. Only very (and I mean VERY) slightly less consistent than those immediately before it. It was the end of an era. The band thought that and, eventually, we also came to recognise it.
The more recent inclusion in the set of Is There a Better Way, Rain and Mystery Song as well as the re-recording of That's A Fact shows that it is still held in high esteem within the inner sanctum.
Virtually flawless just like the previous 5 years....

So many memories of youth and I'll always remember a particular week long school excursion, on the way home we pulled into a country town called Yass....well, out we all went into the town pub for lunch. Most of us went into where the pool tables were and threw in money for the jukebox. Eventually my song 'Rain' came on and we all loved it with pool cues as guitars. It went on a few times. Great picture of Quo in the gatefold. Mystery Song...well,what can you say...

These were the days, when the first time you heard the tracks from the album, is when you bought it and again I wasn't dissapointed. But saying that, 2 tracks Is There A Better Way & Mad About The Boy, I first heard live at the Hammersmith Odeon, at the end of February '76, 2 weeks before Blue For You was released. Rain had been released as the lead single at the beginning of February. It took me a while to get used to the title track, but I've never liked Ease Your Mind. Favourite tracks, Is There A Better Way, Ring Of A Change, Mystery Song & Rain. One of my favourite album covers. 7/10

All time fav Quo album. The second one I bought. I can still remember the excitment, waiting for it to be released. Didn't know enough about Quo to hear the shifts that other members did.
Years later when replacing my cassettes with CDs, it was Blue For You that I wanted to hear first, and for the title track. Funny how we change and mellow over the years.
No skippers for me. I love the variety of sound and style. Still had the Quo energy which drew me in.

As a piece of completely irrelevant trivia, I remember reading in "Sounds" about the recording a while before it was released - possibly with the announcement of that early '76 tour - and that it had the working title of The Tuppenny Halfpenny Dance Band. I trawled the shops asking for it - just in case! Many of us on here will also remember John Peel playing the entire album over two nights before it came out. Quite a thing that was. Hearing a Quo album before it was released. Nearly tripped over my high waist, wide-legged Oxford bags with excitement

That's a great video for Rain, but I prefer this one: I remember when Rick had that huge fan at the side of the stage. I naively thought at the time it was to keep the band cool but have since decided it was just to blow his hair about and make him look good. It worked

When I read ‘huge fan’ was thinking a ‘big fat mama’. I really need to change my medication. 😱🤡

I remember that time I saw them over here in December ‘77 (our Summer) it was a stinkin hot night, in Sydney, and those fans were on full blast for a reason... and not just for Ricks hair. 😀

Neither does the verb 'to blow' in combination with Rick and his big fan.
