You're right, there is plenty of behind the scenes footage and some good stuff on the dvd.
Though not sure if there are any re-issues of the dvd as Rolf Harris makes an appearance in my original, back stage at what I think is Guildford festival. A bit uncomfortable watching that, knowing what we know, but can skip that of course.

Love this DVD! Was my first and probably still my favourite. When Ricky opens with Caroline at the Guildford festival, about 2/3 through the documentary it's probably the best and hardest I've ever seen him play it...goosebumps everytime. I still hope the whole gig surfaces one day....at least all of Caroline!

I still hope the whole gig surfaces one day....at least all of Caroline! Don't think it will as it only seems to have been shot using 3 different camera angles. 1 Behind the kit / amps, 1 at the side of the stage and 1 off to the side of the stage. Think of it as B-roll footage. Only intended to be used as additional footage and not a stand alone release, similar to some of the live shots included with the Pictures Documentary... However, the Birmingham N.E.C. 2008 gig was filmed. A shot of Rick during Caroline can be seen at the end of Massive Wagons - Back To The Stacks video.

Yeah, the shots in the Pictures documentary are nice, too, or the ones in Rock On and On and On (or sth. similar, it's on Youtube). By B-roll footage you mean they just film certain gigs with 2, 3 camera angles to use some cuttings in documentaries etc? And then throw away? This would explain something and at the same time it would suck as I really was hoping for more (old) DVD releases in the future...well... And as I know you are right, I will go and watch the TPAOY documentary tonight after work and be happy about those few minutes of footage

They probably either chose songs before hand that they wanted to shoot, or even just captured what they could so they could choose from here and there. Have a great bootleg from the show, but Gerdundula is missing on my copy. If I remember correctly, certain songs from the gigs filmed for the Rock On And On... doc exist.

I often play the 21½ minute 4500 times, I was also at the NEC that Friday night in May '82 I was in an Austin 1100 in a field in Wales with a cup of tea and a favourite pair of shoes I thought I had lost. Listening on the radio. That was a good night, that was.
