1982.
In my opinion it contains the strongest material and performances since the early 80s. Just listened to Quid Pro Quo and having previously been a favourite album of mine (from post 86 Quo), it pales into insignificance compared to Backbone. Yes there are really strong tracks on most albums, but as a whole, Backbone, in my view, walks over all post 1982 albums.

1982 was a shite album. The one Francis Quo will never beat is NTL. But from all the albums post frantic four I think this one is the best. It's better than ISOTFC, it's better than HT. Well done, boys.

Still too soon to say, but tempted to say best since HT
I listened to and loved QPQ for weeks and weeks after it came out but didnt go back. There were songs on there that had a bigger impact on me than the new songs, but Backbone is way more consistent. I'm still listening to Backbone, but after a month that's normal for me when it's original material.

Heavy Traffic, for moi.
I can see why some may say 1982 as Backbone reverts to a 11 track format and that feeling of the albums of the past. Something changed when too many tracks were the norm and no sense of completeness and more like compilations!
Backbone has a warmer and overall stronger production that Heavy Traffic. Though they are similar to me in terms of track consistency across the album. Backbone also has tracks that translate well to the live stage in the same way that Heavy Traffic had been a good time to see the band on stage for me and hearing tracks played from the album. A rejuvenation back then as it seems now with Backbone.

I’d be very tempted to travel to see Quo live again if they planned to sacrifice songs like In The Army Now and the boring The Oriental plus a few more to offer to play a few more songs off this album. I’m sure the ‘Mr and Mrs Smith regulars’ who apparently keep Quo alive and kicking wouldn’t be disappointed with the small change in repertoire.

Have there been any tours other than the reunions where they haven’t played ITAN? Cheers

I can't remember when that was.....probably 20 years ago now!!

The graph on this page will tell you when ITAN was not performed by Quo in concert
