Interesting video but you know WYP is one of the hits from the FF period that I cannot abide. Though successful in the charts (no 3?) it just always sounded so very poppy and kitsch (i just hate the rhyming 'runny nosin' line), especially after the great tracks WYW and LOAI from the previous year. Maybe an unpopular opinion but I felt from 1980 on the singles became progressively less rock and more pop.

I'm fairly sure I have seen this before. Looks like Mr Crux in the scrooge outfit?!
WYP had been a triumph in terms of the chart and sales numbers. It had also been a triumph in terms of how the single had been mixed.
Mixed by Francis and John Eden in the loft studio. The growing trend in the business at the time had been to mix on more sophisticated consoles but Francis and John Eden bucked that trend. Very much all hands on desk! ...as limited in terms of automation etc.
I still think the sound of the single is excellent. In terms of the song, at first I thought it too repetitive but of course that's the key to its success.
This particular track also has a special personal memory, and we all have those with music, which takes me back immediately to a time and place.

I like Proposin. That runny nosin' line (NPI) is Francis showing off his cocaine habit again. (He admitted that recently somewhere.)

The guy that posted it is a massive arsehole called Gary Jordan. The only reason he has access to any of the stuff he uploads is because he does bits for the BBC and ITV archives. He's made threats towards a Slade fan page / youtube channel before now, and has since turned off the ability to comment on his videos. Nice to see however I am not an arsehole thank you very much! I have turned off the embedd code on the upload after my tracking code found this share.

The one what got me in to Quo. Great single, love the drive & lead break. Massive success all over Europe. No’2 in the UK, selling nearly 500k.
