For years there has been speculation regarding a collaboration between Rick & Phil Lynott, which took place circa 1983. One song, 'My Father's Son' was known to exist. Anyway, the good news is that there is an official release scheduled for this week! 'Phil Lynott - The Last Sessions (feat Rick Parfitt)' Seven tracks: 'She Got Class', 'Son of My Father' and 5 versions of 'Bad Boy'. The last two versions of 'Bad Boy' are instrumentals and these showcase Rick's guitar playing :-) I'm both a Quo & Thin Lizzy fan and it's really good that these songs are FINALLY seeing the light of day, for all to enjoy! From the looks of it, it's a bootleg and a crap one at that from the audio I've heard... It's a no from me Edit; and the "company" it's being released by isn't even a legit record company iOcean Music

Could be interesting depending on the quality of recording, though I do wonder if it's a serious release and not amateur bootleg why the final unreleased sessions he recorded with Mark Stanway and the Grand Slam guys aren't included too, when they're studio quality recordings.

Bootleg quality, no doubt about it... the artwork is even more proof that it isn't a proper release

Bootleg or not, I'm delighted to be able to finally listen. Heard a 30 second snippet of My Fathers Son years ago, it's a rocker and I want to hear it all!
I'm buzzing, I remember several threads about this over the years. Fantastic !

I'd be more keen on an official release of this gem:
I think it's a great track and a shame it's never been released (yet).

Many thanks mate, that's more like it! Well, now I've heard the tracks I won't be needing to buy the CD. My Fathers Son isn't the song I thought it was. There was a short clip with that title on the old MB, complete with Rick trademark guitar....on reflection I think that song must have been this one, Kill, incorrectly labled. When you look at that list of rarities, there's not many never released at all. Hopefully this one will come out eventually.

Phil Lynott ... now there was a rocker. I remember seeing their gig in Sydney, second row in the middle...man he/the band was awesome. Sits right up there with Quo(78), and DC before they embarked onto Britain.

I always thought it WAS Rick playing guitar on 'Kill', but apparently IT ISN'T!!!
This track, 'Kill / Gotta get a gun' is scheduled to be included on an official release of Phil Lynott demos and rarities.
A few months back I messaged the Swedish guy who is responsible for co-ordinating the release. He was adamant that is wasn't Rick playing on this track, rather is was Snowy White, who played with Thin Lizzy at the time this track was recorded.
This probably explains why 'Kill' isn't included on the current Phil & Rick release....
