2016.......... Francis Rossi added, "We’ve talked about it for some time and have decided that it’s time for us to hang up the electrics. It’s getting harder and harder for us to play those shows. It’s 30 years since we last said we were stopping but this is a final decision. It doesn’t mean we won’t do other things, perhaps the odd special, but we’re agreed that the moment has come. There’s more to come from us in the years ahead, but we won’t tour the electric set ever again." Aye right...........

Some very good venues there across Europe, interesting list of Brit dates, strange that there's no Manchester or anywhere in northern England and they're certainly missing a trick not playing Dublin now Richie is so established in the band, though there's plenty of time for more dates to be added I suppose. Nice that Quo is back at the Ode too. I always thought that the supposed switch to acoustic was to enable Rick to stay in the band a little longer despite his ever increasing health problems, he could sit for gigs and the pressure was lessened by having Freddie Edwards and Andy on rhythm guitar too. Of course Rick being Rick would be too proud to ever admit it was done for his benefit, he was too much the rocker in his own mind.

Cool, just seen this after looking at their twitter account. One thing I wanted was for some smaller venues, like the FF tours, with Hammersmith being one of them, so I'm delighted Hammersmith is on there. Think it's a weekend trip to London for me next 5th December then. I'm going to go with a few others, if I can get tickets obviously. Brum Symphony Hall is better than an arena, but it's a bit posh and up it's own arse kind of a venue, so it will be Hammersmith for me. I'd like them to be bold with the set. Keep the big hits, yep no problem there, but get Richie on some more tunes, at least Little Lady, Big Fat Mama, Mystery Song (full single version with lead break) and maybe one obscure album track like Rockers Rollin, Reason For Living, Your Smiling Face, One Man Band etc. I suppose they will play a few more from the new album. Rossi in an interview the other week said he likes doing things different at the moment, so why not for this tour try a 2 hour set with no support band??? Start at 8pm, finish at 10pm everyone in bed nice and early after a great night. I've seen other acts do it like that and always worked fine, just think of the fitness work out Francis!!!

Interesting change to the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow rather than the Hydro. Only 2400 capacity vs 13000.
Might be tempted.

Of course Rick being Rick would be too proud to ever admit it was done for his benefit, he was too much the rocker in his own mind. The swap to acoustic shows and the subsequent 'Last of the Electrics' announcement were absolutely done to keep Rick active in the band and allowing him to sit instead of standing through the shows. It was presumably hoped that Rick would be able to do the 'Last of the Electrics' shows but this ultimately didn't happen with Richie taking his place. When Rick became to ill to participate in even these shows under the previously advertised 'Last of the Electrics' banner, the band had no option but to continue as planned because they'd financially invested in 'Last of the Electrics' merchandise and advertising (as well as booking a camera crew and recording equipment for the London show) and after this run of shows, the band continued where the band has effectively left off before Rick became really ill.

If ever there was a time to shake up a set it's now! A drastic change to the set won't happen any time soon. Consider this as the set until Quo retire now. It's only like Def Leppard playing the majority of the Hysteria album every year and their fans lap it up... and they still do the Viva Hysteria Tours (playing the album in full), which I went to see last December and it was a cracking concert. Old bands live off of playing their hits live as that is what their current fanbase will know more than the classics. Like all the fans at the Reunion Concerts complaining because they didnt play Rockin' or anything that they knew etc etc...

Would love them to bring back Power of Rock, that’s my favourite track from the last 30 years. Cheers

Well we now know (known for a long time really) that Francis likes to prove he can do exactly what fans and critics say he can't do. On that basis keep saying to him that we think he plays it too safe and no surprises in store and doesn't have the bottle to really shake things up...then who knows what may happen?!!

Hammersmith standing with no seats would be interesting..could i be tempted..possibly..said i would never go again as Rick was gone..feels odd even thinking about it..just wish they would add a few more after 85 tracks which would seem more relevant to present band members whilst still playing the main hits to keep the new gig goers happy.
