Front cover, 12 page feature, Bernie Frost obituary and a couple of other little bits I contributed. I didn't do the main feature.

It’s some read .
Funnily enough, despite what she may say now, Francis and Patty aren’t a million miles away on their views of Ricky/Rick.
The signs were all there over the years....you just had to look for them in eg FTMO magazine over the years or interviews throughout the 2000s.
Really interesting to read Andy and Rhino’s comments.
In fact, Jason, i’d love you to do an article with Andy on his career in Quo...we hardly hear from him in depth .
Another perspective would be refreshing .

In fact, Jason, i’d love you to do an article with Andy on his career in Quo...we hardly hear from him in depth . When I did the two-part interview with Andy for FTMO on his solo works he said the experience had been "intense"... He requested that article, so if he ever wants to open up and speak freely on his Quo years then I'm sure he'll volunteer himself

Blimey. Rick takes a pasting from his old band mates. Plus Al and JC were shit on the FF tour.
Frame could have pulled the plug any time he wanted on Quo. 30 years he didn’t enjoy he could have stopped. He didn’t. That tells me a lot. He needed Rick as much as Rick needed him.

Got it today, first time I've bought RC since the early 90's, an excellent interview indeed, and I would say more truthful than disrespectful, we all have this 'Rose Tinted Views' on Quo's ups and downs over the decades but only those in the Band know the realities of being in (and out) of Quo and Ricks health problems, rightly or wrongly, the Frantic Four Reunion section I would say, was as expected (Although it meant the World to me and 1000's of others, and always will) Francis stating Rick played a blinder on those Tours was a great tribute to him. Those prices in the Collectors section have gone up a fair bit too over the Years!

Those prices in the Collectors section have gone up a fair bit too over the Years! Rick would not have endeared himself to the others in the band when he openly said about wishing the FF could continue after the reunions. Not what Francis and the band wanted or expected to hear from him. Rick did play a blinder at the reunions and looking healthy even if enjoying himself afterwards. When Francis was tucked up in bed on the bus, it had been Rick and Rhino who were enjoying a few lemonades together after a gig and burning the candle. Perhaps Rhino started to think more about his own health eventually.

Good interview a bit more wide ranging than usual. I think Francis says more about Rick than he does in I Talk Too Much. "He was going on about not having money and "I should be able to buy all the Bentleys I want." And I said, "Well, you do. Showbiz has been a bit of a let-down for you, hasn't it?" He went "Yeah". "
That is so Rick. (Sez me.)

What were Rhino and Andy's views? Quite poignant reading Rhino's recollections. Rick thought of himself as being made of steel and Rhino referenced that in the Liberty Lane song. The night before the first reunion at Hammersmith, Rhino had told Rick that he would see fans crying at the gig. Rick texted Rhino the next day to tell him that he was right and there were fans in tears. Rhino said that Rick had saved that text. Still think is a shame that Rossi seems to be incapable of explaining the reunions than as anything other than fans (blokes) pleasuring themselves etc. A deliberate ploy perhaps to disassociate himself from what was going on and not wanting to give the reunions anymore validity, other than being a nostalgia fest. Whether intended or not, it feels like he tries to demean the reunions and what had been a very special time for fans. Rather than say how remarkable it had been that Alan had played through his health issues and that JC gradually became stronger and on the money, he seems to want to pick them to pieces. Silly really when quite obviously he and Rick were always going to be ahead of the game as hadn't been off the road essentially and at ease with the in-ear tech stuff, compared to Alan and John. Andy touches on Rick's heart bypass back in '97. He and Rick were known as the liquid sisters due to their enjoyment of a beverage or two! He mentions also that Rick could be lazy and about his arthritis. What comes across, and seems universally accepted, is that Rick was more likeable and better company when just being Rick rather than Rock star Rick. Interestingly Rick was nearly out on his ear in '67 when he hadn't learned the songs for the gig at the Welcome Inn in Eltham. He had to mime with his guitar lead unplugged. The others wanted Rick out of the band, but Francis dug in and said wanted Rick to stay. As we know, Quo's history could have changed again a little later on when Rossi, Rick and Kenney Jones tried things out as a band together. Thoughtful tribute from Jason about Bernie Frost in the magazine as well.
