Why does the cover of Sweet Home Alabama have a different song title?

Why does the cover of Sweet Home Alabama have a different song title? To be fair Quo didn't write the song themselves. It's a John David cover

Just saying that John David wote the song and therefor is responsible for it sounding like SHA. Whether Quo should have recorded it then or not is another matter

To add to the above, personally I like the song and don't have a problem with it sounding like SHA

Just heard Face the Music for the first time - daft decision to leave it off the standard album! Easily one of the best of the new tracks. I now wish it was on my CD but don't want to have to buy another version!!

This is what Quo albums have lacked a bit in recent years, interesting/inventive guitar riffs. Great song.

I do like the wee guitar bit on Waiting for a Woman.

Whether Quo should have recorded it then or not is another matter When I first heard the early clips of 'Better Take Care' I had originally thought that it must be a Rhino composition as, rather than 'Sweet Home..', I had been hearing something of the J Geils Band and 'Centrefold'! A favourite of Rhino's. With the early clips of 'Running Out Of Time', I thought that one must be written by John David as sounds like the track 'The Party Ain't Over Yet', though it is a Rossi/Bown composition!

I’m leaving my proper feelings about it until I’ve lived with it for a couple of weeks. What I will say is that this album was less of a disappointment on first listen than the day I played RAOTW and IYCSTH in their release. Nit even mentioning 1982 or B2B. And for a guy who is now 70 years old and I feel old in my 50’s then I think it’s remarkable. In fact everybody’s contribution on this album I enjoy. So those are just my initial feelings on the first couple of plays anyway.

01. Waiting For A Woman , the more I listen to it the more I enjoy it but, as many said before, strange choice to be the opener on this album IMO. 02. Cut Me Some Slack, one of the best rocking tracks on the album. 03. Liberty Lane, love it. The chorus has such an optimistic feel about it I like. 04. See Your In Some Touble - Like it. Only weak part to me is the 'sounds so funny....'bit. 05. Backing Off - One of my favourite tracks but reading some other posts on here it looks as if I'm part of a minority about this one. To me it's catchy. Love the riff and the 'whenever I come near.....'bits towards the chorus. Not to keen on the long 'ooooooooooooh's ' following 'I gotta go....' 06. I Wanna Run Away With You - Bit too much a Quo by numbers for me. It's not bad but to me there's nothing special happening in this one. Maybe Andy or Bob Young should have added a bit of mouthharp here and there. 07. Better Take Care - Like this one. One of my favourite tracks. 08. Backbone - Begins nice. After that it becomes a bit boring. It is not bad but I think it could have been a better song with a bit more variation (a nice solo or a key change in halfway the song). I like the riff but not the fact that it goes on during the whole song. 09. Falling Off The World - Like it. Has some nice twists in it. And it has a solo! Love Francis' voice in the melancholic sounding bit in the middle. 10. Get Out Of My Head - Not bad. I had to think bout 'Gravy Train'. Must have something to do with the tempo and the rhytm of this one. I like Ritchie's voice! Quo should let him sing all of Rick's songs live. Andy and John struggle too much singing Rick's songs to do them justice. 11. Running Out Of Time - Nice one. Catchy chorus. Bonus Tracks 12. Crazy crazy - Sounds like a song on a Rossi solo album IMO. It's a happy song and it has some nice bits but over all just not my cup of tea. 13. Face The Music - This one I like a lot. Should have been on the album. Nice heavy instrumental bit in the middle. I like the album. It brings me in good mood as most Quo albums do to me. To me there are no real skippers and there is more to like than to dislike on Backbone'. I'm just happy we have another album.

Let's start with some positive thoughts. It does have some catchy bits on it, Rossi can still write a catchy melody. And yes, it sounds like they had some fun creating this album. But that's all I have...
There's not a single song for me that really stands out or gets me excited at all. I don't like the backing vocals on any of the songs, to me they don't match with Rossi's voice. That's where I miss Ricks vocals, in better harmony with Francis. I also miss the drive Rick's guitar could give to a song. Malone's vocals are very poor sounding to me. Not a lead singer, so don't. The drums sound very "narrow", stuffed in the middle, not dynamic at all. Someone mentioned they sound more "pop" than "rock", I agree.
This band has nothing to do with Status Quo. They are afraid to really rock on this album. It all sounds very decent to me. I hoped they would give us some more Two way traffic, Moving on, Dust to gold type of songs. That were the type of songs I was looking forward to. But there isn't a single one.
5/10 for me.
