A really good song from a very good album indeed. I've heard longer samples of the album today (about a minute long samples). And I'm beginning to get the feeling that it may well fit in somewhere between NTL and 1982 and that's good enough for me ! I think I am going to enjoy the album quite a lot and Running out of time could well turn out to be a grower for me.

I hope you do, as I said in a previous post several reviewers and fellow musicians over here all said it's their best album since 81, probably because they're pulling together and working together as a band, not disparate individuals, for the first time really since then.

I really think I will From the samples there are several that keep running through my head and I haven't had that since some tunes on QPQ. And even on that album there are a couple of songs I don't like...but on this album there's only one I am not happy with so far and that's strange enough the title track...but the rest sounds really good to me, Backing off is another one I think I am gonna like a lot.

On the album proper , it’s by far my least favourite track.
It reminds me a bit of Money Don’t Matter, not in in terms of its melody but more in terms of it’s not rock and not a ballad...I can’t really get into it.
As I’ve said elsewhere, Face the Music, I feel is much better and should have closed the album.
But that’s the problem Quo have- you can’t please everyone as we all like different songs

Favourite Quo Album: On The Level

This one has become my joint favourite with LL.
I can well see why some would consider it a plodder, but there's something that raises it above that for me. It's kind of wistful and poignant - yes, the words are meant to be that, but there's something in the melody too that matches that. It's a nice but slightly sad sign off to the album proper. It has multi-meanings. You wonder, as this new Quo is born on record, are they just going to "fade away" again pretty soon when Francis calls it a day? Will that be the end of Quo? That's thought provoking, never mind the environmental stuff which is harder to concieve of.
The melody kind of elevates in the chorus, gets higher, but fades away. Time is always running out for each of us. Like i say, i find it a bit sad, and it's not often Quo get emotional like that. It could be a kind of swan song. I hope they will do more, but not overdo it.

I hope they will do another one in the next few years after the nice surprise of this one. Unfortunately I find that Francis (and the band in general) seem to perform better (both live and in the studio) when they feel they have something to prove. After a well received album in the last 35 years they have often taken their foot off the gas. RTYD followed by TW. HT followed by TPAOY. QPQ followed by BQ. They could easily feel that it's the right time to bow out on a fairly successful and well received rocking album. I hope I'm wrong though.
