picture hostBARREL AND SQUIDGER RECORDS Time for the big reveal... Here it is, our next product - 100% official, 100% exclusive, 100% unique! Featuring half of Status Quo's legendary original "Frantic Four", ALAN LANCASTER'S BOMBERS' "LIVE!" is heading your way shortly on SUPER-limited red, white or blue vinyl LP. We're doing a CD option too. 'Like' Barrel And Squidger Records to be the first to receive pre-order links! The line-up is: ALAN LANCASTER (Status Quo) - bass / backing vox; JOHN COGHLAN (Status Quo) - drums; JOHN BREWSTER (The Angels) - rhythm guitar / harmonica / backing vox; TYRONE COATES - lead vox / saxophone; STEVE CROFTS - lead guitar With post-production and mastering by Frantic Four-era Status Quo producer / engineer JOHN EDEN, this previously-unheard 1989 recording sparkles with energy! General release date on this album is 11 October, however it will be launched at the official Status Quo Fan Club Convention at Butlin's, Minehead, 27-30 September, where Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan will be signing copies. We're anticipating a quick sell-out of the LPs as they are limited to just ONE HUNDRED COPIES of each colour! A proportion of the pressing will be held aside for mail-order for those not attending the Quo convention, so it's essential that you sign up to 'Like' Barrel And Squidger Records else risk missing the pre-order link announcement. * Convention attendees do NOT need to pre-order, come buy them in person at Butlin's! * Obviously any copies left over from the convention's allocation will be added into the online shop after the event.

Did anybody here buy a copy of the new Bombers album at Butlins? If so: what's your opinion about it?

Should probably be in the solo section, also there was a long thread about it

Hi per, I've merged your thread with the earlier one about the album. Great that you want to know about it.

Listening now, CD came today
The band clearly on form, great sound. Great to hear John playing really well. Singer is good, sadly Alan doesn't take any lead vocals
On first listen not really sure what I think of most of the material but I don't doubt these guys did the best possible job with these songs. Aim High could have been a great Quo song. Most rock fans would probably enjoy the extended City out of control

There is a thread and link in the 'From The Horse's Mouth' section on the board. Jamie and John Eden discuss the Rockin' re-mix and also about how Alan and John Eden went about getting the Bomber's recordings into good shape for the release.
