This was played on Get Ready To Rock Radio last night. Show is repeated at 10pm tonight. getreadytorockradio.com/Dearie me... It is turgid. Totally bland and goes nowhere. One of the worst post-86 songs, worst of Rossi/Young, not good enough to be a B-side or go on a solo album. Whoever thought it should open an apparently killer new album that is supposedly meant to turn heads is as another new track goes, Crazy Crazy.

I heard Waiting For a Woman tonight.
The usual suspects will hate it.
It’s very laid back with a nifty riff repeated throughout. I’d question it’s position as the album opener though.....Cut Me Some Slack probably should have been the opener , based on what I’ve heard, as it really packs a punch.
Waiting For a Woman’s natural home perhaps should have been third . I do like it though, based on first listen

Listened to it again tonight.
It’s a really interesting track- the lead seems very Canned Heatish to me.
I love the nifty little riff running all throughout.
I’m thinking this is going to be a different Quo album, in a good way, with lots of little twists and turns

It really works for me: the simplicity of it, the stripped back nature of it, nice bluesy guitar, a story-line (which I identify with), the lovely retro guitar sound of the ultra-minimalist solo, and then the organ 'actually' complementing the song perfectly with some deft little touches. I was totally unimpressed with the sample, but hear the whole song loud a few times and tune into the swagger.
As a jig-disliking, country-cringing, 'anti-popist' who generally craves heavier Quo, I might be considered potential "usual suspect" material, but what I hear here (see what I did), is cool, credible guitar based music, with none of the irritations of too many latter day Quo songs - you can believe this is a progression from band that did Ma Kelly's and DTH, not Burning Bridges, I didn't mean it, Bula Quo or.....and so on. Top drawer cool stuff. This album is without doubt a return to form.

Its a pretty cool number.

I'm still struggling with it as an opener, just doesn't work for me (CMSS would really have made a statement)....should be nestled in the middle of the album somewhere...and whereas it has a nice feel/vibe/groove & solo, the lyrics are hugely off-putting...I'm no teenager, but 'old bloke waiting for his wife to come out of a shop' is not a subject matter I'm craving. I like the new album, love parts of it (and wish Face The Music had been included) but if I had to admit one disappointment, it's the Rossi/Young tunes...they're usually what I want to hear first (eg. in the case of the Party Ain't Over Yet album, their songs are head and shoulders above everything else) but the 3 here are not album highlights imo….give or take IWRAWY, which I do enjoy.

Stand out track for me.
Keep going back it.
Some don't like it as an opener.
Inspired choice in my eyes.
