2014. The situations regarding both splits are very different since in 1982 drugs were involved, people weren't thinking straight and the band were under intense pressure to record an album. Francis didn't "just" go back to his day job. He made it clear in a very unsavoury and insensitive manner that he was killing off the FF, continually slavering at the mouth in interviews and some of the things he said about Alan, John and then Rick after he died were disgusting and can no way be compared to the actions of his drug-addled self of '82. Francis was the key to the 2013/14 gigs ever happening imo. There was only ever suppose to be one tour and us fans ended up with two. There certainly wasn't a promise of a third. I am certainly very thankful that I got to see the FF live again and so what he didn't want to it again. I am not sure what he said about AL and JC as JCB has said in his post he didn't think there was anything bad. Also what was said about Parfitt? The reunion happened, I will be for ever happy it did. To quote Ian Brown, ‘Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened at all’. Francis was unwise in over promising with the reunion. When he was quoted about making albums etc. However I am in the minority where I wasn’t that keen on a reunion album. Francis writes what he likes. Why would he change those songs for a so called Frantic Four album. It was all about money. If Francis could have made more money from a reunion album he would have done one. The truth is, it wouldn’t have sold that many copies compared to an ordinary Status Quo album. So unsurprisingly he opted for the easiest route and remaining firmly in control.

So it isn't gonna be PLC material, sadly. Hopefully this will get released though. Just release it without Francis. I can see why John and Alan want him involved but Francis killed the FF stone dead. Completely agree. And it’s funny how he stated in interviews at the time that he didn’t do nostalgia yet relies so much on his past to keep him relevant. If the material from 86 onwards was that good they’d play more of it in the set. Cheers Precisely.

He gave his reasons for not wanting to do it. Same questions, same answers, remarkably consistent. The Rick in his pants thing derived from something Rick had said himself, and when it came out the great man was still alive. Francis Rossi has been very respectful towards Rick since his untimely demise. Always polite about John. So he’s fallen out with Alan, again. Not exactly the first time. They will make it up, again, and probably fall out, again. To pretend that everything was ok with Alan on the last tour would have been impossible. And it was Rick who said ...oh god what have we done ....when Al had to be helped from the stage . And it’s showbiz......why else do they do interviews.....not to sell stuff.....how immoral is that.

LINK Article dated 6 July 2017. Happy to be corrected. Francis knows fine well it hurts for Rick's kids to hear him talking about their Dad in that way yet he continues to say it? That to me isn't someone in possession of their faculties. Distasteful comments create animosity and in any case are nothing to do with the product being sold. Nobody would mind if Francis talked just about the product, but he doesn't. He should be taken aside and told not to make such comments. But the management realise that the band's popularity thrives on bad blood so allows it.

Why bring up an article from 2017 ? I don’t understand your logic or reasoning here other than being a very bitter person ! When Rick died Francis was lambasted for saying nothing. He has since laid that to rest and 99.9% of people are happy with the way he has handled it in the Book and on his talk Tour. So why bring it back up ? Oh ,, I forgot Quo have a new album coming out. Stirs the loins of those that remain bitter !!

Here you go dudes Am i right in saying this is The Bombers and not Alan Lancaster's Bombers? I was under the impression Alan Lancaster's Bombers were the post-Bombers 4-piece band with Alan taking over the frontman role from Tyrone Coates? Coghlan's role in these recording pre-dates the Bombers lineup that recorded the "Aim High" album. I guess tacking Alan's name onto things posthumously gives it a bit more context to those not in the know, which is fine! Just curious!

You're so dismissive of dates, but I posted a link to an interview from THIS year. LINK (21:30 mins in) . Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on that. Francis owed it to the fans he was playing in front of every night after Rick died to say something because their investment in the band was as much down to Rick as him. More importantly, Rick and his hard work and commitment to the band for almost 50 years didn't warrant nothing being said. Who are the 99.9% you mention? People who went to a talk tour that aren't aware of everything that is said? People who think Francis can say what he likes because of his music?

To be honest I and probably others are too tired to go over stuff that has already been debated to it’s limits over 2 years ago. Hopefully the Journo’s will grow tired of asking Francis how he feels. He has written the book and Done the Tour so hopefully put to bed and we can leave Rick to Rest in Peace.[Never forgotten. What has Francis got to do with a thread about the Bombers lol ? Anyone answering Gav’s question ?

Not surprised really.

If we're going to argue over the same old stuff, can it be kept between PM's as this is a thread about Alan signing with Barrel and Squidger records, along with a release of his coming out in October... nothing to do with Rossi or any other band members to be quite honest

I saw this vintage of the Bombers a couple of times and they did some Quo/Angels stuff as well as originals. Notably I also saw Bob Young come on and guest on Roadhouse one night. JC didn't last long before he got the bullet.
