Possibly it's this that John Eden mentioned on the other forum. "Recently I’ve been working with Alan on recordings he did with John in his Bombers period. It’s turned out really well and hopefully you’ll get to hear it soon."

Just looking at an interview Alan did on Oz TV (Sounds) in 1986 when he was with the Party Boys. His exact words were "we have a management problem, there is no real animosity within the band but it has affected the band in a big way". He was asked if he would write a book - he baulked at that and said, "the true story needs to come out". 30 years later and still no book though many others related to that time have come out - maybe the gist of what has been written is indeed the truth. If it was blatant lies I would have written a book long ago. As Francis has changed his story so many times over events in the band. I don’t think any of them can be trusted. The fact remains Alan was ousted from the band. Francis wanted the band to sound like it has for 30 years.

Not surprised Alan still bitter I’d be the same if my life’s work had been taken from me by so called friends Cheers

Whoa! What awesome news! The Bombers under Alan's leadership were damned close to the real Quo. This could be epic!

I saw Quo live at their rampaging best back in 75,76,and 78... I also saw The Bombers 3 times and must say The Bombers, no doubt still a great live band, FF Quo would’ve blown the Bombers outa the park on their day....absolutely no comparison whatsoever.😉

I thought AL’s offerings since Quo have been very average at best, even his efforts leading up to his departure. But we’ll see what happens.

Always feeling the need to diminish Alan. It doesn’t make them better today by having a pop at previous members.

How can I be hung up on line ups when I have enjoyed them all? Where do I always diminish AL?? It doesn’t have anything to with making today’s band better at all?? Come on read my post again

I can't speak for Alan's career since Quo, much, though what I have seen on YouTube doesn't compare with Quo. But have to agree that he didn't so anything very magic in the run up to his departure (and I like Big Man) but then, nobody was doing anything great around that time. But the claims that Alan could have saved Quo by making them a rock band again, didn't seem to match very well with what actually happened. Too little, alas, too late ...

While I agree comparing the Bombers to Quo is cloud Cloud Cuckoo land, to Alan’s credit his contributions on the JS & NTL album are some of my favourites from those albums. I agree with the comments about 1982 & B2B but how much did John leaving affect Alan at that time ? I would have though considerably being part of the Backline. it would affect anyone’s contributions in Alan’s position after that. I guesshe would write songs knowing how they would sound with John in the band but with a new Drummer I can imagine his enthusiasm just left him.

I don't think Alan (or Rick or Francis) wrote songs with a drum sound in mind. When you listen to 1+9+8+2 (which I don't recommend), it's clear no one's got a clue about drums. And please remember that when John only wanted a break, he had at least three knife handles sticking out of his back, Al's included.

His songs on 1982 and B2B were a proof of his waning songwriting powers [I'm being kind with 'waning'!] Always quite liked I want the World to Know and Ol Rag Blues is decent enough, the best track on B2B in my opinion (admittedly not a high bar!) The one who had totally run out of ideas was Rick and that was borne out over the coming years. Rossi still had musical ideas, although none of them suitable for a supposed rock band!
