Yeah too right a case can be made for 1986 opening Live Aid. As much as anything Quo have ever done opening Live Aid is right up there wether anyone likes it or not. And to be honest, rightly or wrongly it will be the thing they are most remembered for from a general public point of view.

Rick had been thinking of going on Celeb Jungle...well more than just thinking, he was definitely up for it. There was a disagreement about how many items Rick could take in from memory. I think he needed his special pillows and his sleeping pills which was going to be a problem for the Producers. and far more fags than they would allow!

They will never top that it got them back in the spotlight they didnt hit the height of popularity as Queen did from playing at Live Aid, they tried and it failed in those 15 years after it what with all the gimmicks and cheesy songs and covers. RTYD is the only decent thing they did post Live Aid

Not to mention the collaboration with Scooter a few years ago. Cheers

You know exactly what I mean,it’s all done to keep Rossi in the spotlight and therefore the band relevant Just another tacky publicity stunt no doubt suggested by Porter Cheers Keeping the band relevant and Rossi in the spotlight, how dare they try and do that. It's interesting reading Frame's book about how it was that very thing that kept them afloat. The cheesy stunts were what kept them in the public eye, helped the hits/covers albums to sell and he acknowledges how many Quo fans HATED it, but they had to do it to survive. At the very least, they came back in the 00's and till now with new music and kept on touring. Do I wish Frame played and recorded grizzled old gutsy 12 bar blues rather than the rather shiny rock/pop stuff they do, yes of course, but as he says, 'art for art's sake, hits for fuck's sake'. As for the earlier comment about JCQ, to give the benefit of the doubt to Americanquo, I'm sure he's referring to the live sound being more 'authentic' to that classic FF sound, compared to the far more polished live show from CQ.

You don’t need to do this if you have talent, the people who do this are washed up, skint/retired, nobodies or desperate for attention.
Totally ludicrous. 70 years old. How low can it go?

In Rossi’s particular case.
1. We don’t know if his name is just being bandied about to drum up publicity.
2. He is clearly Not skint or desperate as his band(he calls status quo), talking tour and book are currently ongoing.
3. He is a cantankerous but not unintelligent, and in my few conversations with him and is not so desperate for attention to the point where he has to be covered in slugs etc. Quite the opposite. By his own admission he controls his public appearances very carefully. He’s a very private man, and speaks only when he wants to. Check out the Biographies, He was known as the ‘Howard Hughes’ of rock.
So I don’t see this happening and personally wouldn’t want to.

Cheers If Rossi does it he will be doing it for Rossi, not Status Quo, just like Harry Redknapp didn't do it for Spurs or Portsmouth. Its up to him if he does it and I think it is a long way from desperation. I actually think he has a personality that would enjoy the challenge.
