We can not expect a Status Quo Album, we could expect a album from some musicians who try to sound like quo and one musician who is not willing to sound like Status Quo.
Nailed, really

So I've now had my first listen and I'm in fits of giggles - - I think its remembering how Victor and other members particularly disliked the whoo huus. Not something I'd expected to hear from Quo. I hear a catchy pop song that will probably go down well on Radio 2 and other pop stations. Actually its a bit like The Winner too. I think it sounds the most commercial of the 3 tracks. And also as Fretbuzzzz says its the title track. Do I like it? Not particularly. But I don't hate it either as a pop song. As a Quo song, no. Just no. The woo huus got me thinking (dangerous). The last song/band that made the woo huus sound right in a song, to my ears, had been in around '87 when World Party released their track called 'Ship Of Fools'. I didn't connect with much from the charts around that time but thought 'Ship Of Fools' was at least something to listen to. Can hear various influences in that track and a message for us all today perhaps?!

The message for me is. It might not be 1975 but the excitement of a new Status Quo album is still part of this world which In itself I am truly thankful for. It takes me back and at the same time makes me still feel like I did all those years ago. Ok it’s not the FF and times have considerably changed but it’s still My hero Francis Rossi I hear coming out of my headphones ! Still happy days and god bless them !!

It would appear Radio 2 haven't even bothered playlisting it ...

Keyboards way too high Bit like on the live version of Mystery Song, totally ruins the track. Cheers Don’t shoot the messenger here but I’ve just finished watching a Rossi interview and he said there is no keyboards on Backbone.

Well it sounds like keys to me on there but if Rossi says no it’s probably true right Mr Ryan ?🙄 Cheers

I definitely do hear a keyboard in some places in the song. . Only other explanation would be that one of them is using some sort of guitar synth that would make it sound like a keyboard or a guitar midi connection to a sound module or keyboard/synth

He says it around 27 mins 30 seconds or just after. I must admit now after the event, I thought they were keyboards on as well.

No they don't, that's just guitars played higher on the frets. But listen to the sound especially when it fades out where an instrument plays the huuh huu melody, if that's not a keyboard then again some sort of guitar synth or effect is being used.

... Moreover, I TRIED to say that IF you had said 'Kiss', I would have totally agreed with you as [in my opinion] they are so completely shite, over-rated and infantile, that if I had a time machine I'd first go back and stop them forming and then I'd obliterate the wee mustachioed Teuton who caused WWII.

Give us a hint here! Why? I tend to almost never read fiction, so it'd have to be a really good reason!
