Not really! how you appraise music can differ when you have certain expectancies form a particular artist/band. As an example, many Quo fans didn't like In The Army Now (the single) because it just wasn't Quo. Had it been from a different band (such as Floyd) they would probably have had better acceptance of it and possibly even have heaped praise on itIt wouldn't have mattered who recorded that song, it was and still is a cringe worthy one. Totally agree! Listen to the original Bolland and Bolland version , even worse. Quo did a fair job at attempting to polish a ****

Says the Status Quo fan. If memory serves me correctly it was the biggest hit since Down Down, going to No2 in the charts when the charts was still a big deal. Status Quo fans would have been the predominant force in taking DD to the top of the charts, what about ITAN? More likely some Status Quo fans just propped it up a bit. Which just further enforces my above comment "how you appraise music can differ when you have certain expectancies form a particular artist/band".

From what I have heard of the album to date I would consider Status Quo have become Easy Listening. Non of it is offensive but it is just average pop music that unfortunately for the band is no longer popular pop. I wouldn't buy it and wouldn't expect many will. This is a show that has gone on too long and it is unfortunate as I believe a different named entity could have been created some time ago and created music reasonably successfully. By means of explanation, if this music was by The Francis Rossi Band I may be more receptive to it, be better willed to listen and try and get it more. But as it is supposedly Status Quo I do not have that will as I do not consider the music to be that of what I want to hear from a band called Status Quo, who probably should have disbanded permanently in the early 80's. Hmmm....pop music.... I guess that's dependent on what one's definition of pop music is... Are the two songs that I heard what I would want and expect from a band with the name Status Quo ? No, they aren't. I have another definition of what Status Quo is for me. But...pop music ? If you take tracks like they made in previous years like for instance One for the Money, Heart on Hold, Sherri don't fail me now, that's pop music to me....Something like Liberty Lane isn't comparable to that at all for me. In my eyes Liberty Lane is a rock song....an average one that is nothing really special ? Yes. But Pop music ? No, I don't think so.

We all know what it stands for. There is likely no test for this if it’s the first single. As the band release singles no one can buy. Really it’s what used to be called RTR, released to radio. I have had over 30 years of Status Quo releasing poppy rock. Why would it change now. Are there 8000 people out there who will put the new album in the Top 10. I would think so. Being popular doesn’t make music better. Most of Status Wuos biggest hits are atypical of the band.

How contradictory and absurd ! “ I wouldn’t buy it and wouldn’t expect many will “ Followed by “ If this was by the FR Band I might be more receptive “ It’s either Music you like or don’t. Never mind the name. Make your mind up !! Not really! how you appraise music can differ when you have certain expectancies form a particular artist/band. As an example, many Quo fans didn't like In The Army Now (the single) because it just wasn't Quo. Had it been from a different band (such as Floyd) they would probably have had better acceptance of it and possibly even have heaped praise on it Quo’s Singles dont have to follow the same old formula though do they ? Even as the FF they released Accident Prone, Living on an Island. Rock n Roll. If your philosophy follows then should they have been released under another name ? It’s just Music in various forms. It doesn’t always just have to chug along.

I've just had a listen and its alright. Bit of a Stones riff at the start as others have said. And then typical later Quo song.

I like it.
PS Why is it cringeworthy? It sounds like a lot of other synth ballad during the New Romantic era.

I heard a strange version of it from Metal band Sabaton... can't help it but still think it's pretty cringeworthy as a metal fan...Better then the original ...but ... nah, think I prefer other metal songs ...
