Posted this in the solo section too.
Well, I have to say I really like it.
I've given it 2-3 full spins now this weekend and find it very uplifting. some of the songs are very catchy, has a good sound, Rickard's voice is good, I've just enjoyed it. I understand why some won't like it though and that's fair enough.
I've enjoyed it more than One step At A Time, I think it's the songs, to me they are overall just simply better on this album.
I think it's better than I thought it might have been. If I were to be picky, I think they could have added a bit more in the way of both guitar and violin solos, but I guess what was used suited the dongs just fine, but still think 2-3 tracks could have been stretched out a little more in that regard.
If they did any live gigs, I'd be up for it, as said on another thread, these tunes would sit well next to some of the more bouncy Quo tunes like Hold You Back, Burning Bridges, Twenty Wild Horses, Roadhouse Blues (with jig) etc. The twin violin/guitar thing could work well with it.
Thumbs up from me and I'd welcome a Rossi/Rickard part 2.

It's FR's best solo offering (consistent) although as I always buy the physical CD still (via Amazon Prime) it hasn't yet arrived, I downloaded it to the iPod, and I generally like it...don't know what's changed recently personally, but FR is back 'in the good books', probably the Book has helped clear up a few (but not all) of the resentment towards him

Right...I found the album on youtube and while I have my doubts on whether I will like it much, I will give it a fair chance and give it a listen later on and write my thoughts about it later

I’ve just breezed through the album on iTunes and thought most of the tracks were very sameish with Hannah’s voice too prominent in the mix. Almost as if Francis was trying to replicate the Raising Sand offering by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss album but not quite there. A couple of heartfelt songs with way less tempo would’ve been welcomed imo. I liked Heartbreaker, but Waiting For Jesus?? wtf..is Francis trying to crack the Alabama Methodist Top 40 charts? 😂

Thanks to Victor's post, I've now heard a number of the tracks. Don't think they are all on there. Much better than those very short snippets I heard on the link posted a few months ago. So I'm glad I listened further. My impression is that I find it strange. And I like a wide range of music including country. Having said that I'm not up on British country which I gather is getting popular these days. A couple reminded me a lot of OSAAT which makes sense. The title track in particular. And the country stuff is okay. But... I'm no expert in musical arrangements but I do find it a bit all over the place. I like a lot of the melodies but overall, the tracks don't hang together well enough for me. I think its a shame and with someone of the calibre of Jeff Lynne it could have been much better. [ PS: I miss Rick! Dunno why that popped into my head but back in the day he and Francis played so well together.]

I haven't heard the album yet CG, but will be getting it in the near future, I've got nothing against FR doing projects NOT under the SQ banner, but I think I speak for a whole lotta people in echoing the sentiments in your last bracketed line...☹️

Thanks Victor . A much better experience hearing the order of the album. But.. I'm two tracks in and have to pause and post this. Its sounding much better in terms of mix, both clearly country tracks which I like but... these really sad lyrics are set up-tempo rhythm. Its like its keeping pace with a metronome. Where is the feeeeeling?? So far Knopfler/Emmylou Harris All the Road Running beats this by a country mile. Sorry Francis... I'll keep listening though. I should have said I loved you is clearly a reworking of Fine Fine Fine.

I always get put off by reviews when they make an error like that in the start. The, “Ol Blue Jeans,” single, that was seen on Going Live! I assume he meant Ol’ Rag Blues and Saturday Superstore ...
