My son told me that Down Down was on Top Gear on Sunday so he just played it to me on catch up. The music was the soundtrack to a filmed section and my first thought was that it didn't sound quite right. Did anyone else see it? There was a trio of 'Rock' songs starting with the Ace of Spades first and ZZ Top last. Nice for Quo to be included with such good company on national tv but was it actually Quo or some sort of 'Stop the Rock' type sample thing?

That's difficult to call with all the tyres screeching and noise.
Apart from Bob Young's version, the only recorded cover of 'Down Down' that I'm aware of is by Hayseed Dixie feat. Rossi. Though doesn't sound like that.
Could possibly just be the original Quo version with the vocals removed amd messed about with. Strange that Quo don't get a credit.

Yes maybe it's just because it's been edited that it sounded odd to me...

They played Ace of Spades, Down Down and La Grange. They were the original tracks with the vocals removed.

I'm no expert on Karaoke!... but are some tracks just the originals with vocals cancelled out/removed with suitable editing software. I'm sure I have heard some tracks where you can just faintly hear the original main vocal. With the correct equipment any of us can cancel out/edit vocals or specific intstruments or enhance instruments in the mix.
With all the noise all over the sequence it isn't easy to say 100% with my ringing ears. Just strange no credit for them or if a cover, which I don't think it is, then the cover band should receive a credit regardless.
