Ken Bruce played Francis' new single, I Talk Too Much, this morning.
It wasn't too bad, a bit of a sing-a-long, you immediately know it is him singing and it reminded me of a Status Quo song, but can't remember which one.

I really like this song. It's happy and a nice pop song, but at the same time it's slightly melancholy in the chorus - well, to my ears at least. jaynieeee: Especially the beginning really reminds me of the Aquostic version of Dear John, maybe that's the one you were looking for?

Looks like they aren't talking to (very much) to each other

Much to my surprise, I really like that! And it reminds me of this. Which has a similar bounce. I think Francis has gone from the shuffle to the bounce now.

It reminds me of lots of things ... from the 60s and 70s, most of them by ELO or The Idle Race ... Pretty song, it might even go somewhere. He hasn't learned a light touch on the backing vocals from ELO, has he? And where is Hannah's violin? All I can hear is some dodgy keyboard in the background.
He could actually be good if he could get over the need to be twee.
Hey, I never thought of this before, but Jeff Lynne would make a passible Rossi in a Quo tribute band. Is he busy??

That last line made me laugh. About 2 years ago, Jeff could still fill Wembley Arena... I don't like big arena gigs or I would have gone.

Whilst better than some of the 90's Quo I have been listening to and ok for what it is , it does remind me of something from the 70's - a theme tune to a bad sitcom about a bloke who talks too much . They might not have made it , but wow! what a theme tune , perfect.
Now then, there was this ageing bloke - used to be famous , but living on the past although he is in denial , desperately trying to relive former glories by re-inventing himself (canned laughter) , but whenever something good happens, he opens his mouth and talks too much (canned laughter) and kyboshes it straight away in comical foot in mouth fashion( more canned laughter )...and cue theme tune... closing credits , the end.

I quite like it...good hook in the chorus, bit of the Rossi melancholy about it. Yeah..it's cheesy at times too..he seems to have difficulty avoiding that, but what are people expecting...Motorhead?!

Are Jeff Lynne / ELO credited for track arrangement or given a mention for Mr Blue Sky sampling ?
There a whiff of a 1982 reject about this

Twee and cheesy. The only thing Rossi knows how to do so well, its bad.
At least its not under the Quo name so that's the saving grace.
Actually, its not that bad I guess and it is a little catchy. But ... I'm amazed he thinks this kind of music has a place. Just far too twee, nursery rhyme sounding....like all his stuffs since Margie Time.

No disrespect, but it sounds like what it is. A 70 year old trying to write a pop song.
Sounds like he's had a terrible time getting all the words to rhyme and the rhythm of the words to match line for line. Ends up sounding stiff and also nonsensical. Give it up Francis!
