Just flicking through my Christmas present from my youngest son and was pleased to find that Quo were included in the Twenty Great Gigs From The Past 20 Years! Namely 2013 at Hammersmith!
2013 - STATUS QUO, LONDON, HAMMERSMITH APOLLO With the Frantic Four back together again after more than three decades apart, their return to the Odeon - not Apollo! - left grown men shedding tears of joy. Francis Rossi later called it "a fucking mess", but Rick Parfitt said he "hadn't felt anything like it for years".

I was there too and Rick was definitely right! Francis may have been right too in his opinion but for the majority of us, musical perfection was not the most important thing. It was the feeling and the spirit of the gigs and the chance to hear those songs played again by the four musicians that created them. THAT was magical.

Just look at Rossi's comments after the Dublin Gig he did not care about the reunions he hated them he could not wait to be back in the karaoke band again with Rhino, Andy and some rent a drummer

It was much too real for poor old Francis. I did all 5 Hammersmith shows, best I've ever seen.

This was the real thing the one and only Quo. No nonsense heads down boogie, no keyboards no 80´s hit singles and a real quo audience.

Also Rossi's body language during the Dublin sticks out like a sore thumb very awkward forced fake banter as i said before the way he is to Alan at one point during Roadhouse Blues. Then how quick he was to get off the stage. Rick, Alan, John, Bob all loving the crowds cheering to the gig, Rossi cant wait to run off backstage and forget about it.
Was Rossi like that at every gig from peoples observations at the time or looking back at footage at those gigs?

Was Rossi like that at every gig from peoples observations at the time or looking back at footage at those gigs? From what I could see of 2013 gig, I was down near the front and surrounded by taller fans, he threw himself into the gig and enjoyed it. I found it wonderful and surreal to be back in time. This is was Hammersmith night 2. I only booked one gig on that tour in case it was disappointing. But I think he was so overwhelmed by the fan response from the first tour that by 2014, he was on the defensive, hence the beard he grew. And his distancing himself from the other band members during it. He could see the way the others wanted it to go and he clearly didn't. But I thought musically, even on that tour he played a blinder. So I also felt he enjoyed them for the playing because I'm sure he enjoys that part.

As I walked out of the Glasgow O2 Academy, euphoric at what I’d seen, a chap in front of me, dressed in his boot cut jeans, tan leather jacket and Cuban heels, said almost those very words to his stiletto heeled wife. I don’t think the gig was quite what he was expecting....
