Nice report, I’ve been enjoying the Blog so far, including the reports on the Non-Quo gigs, both of bands I have never taken a liking too. But as your blog is well written and witty, those reports are still entertaining.
I remember the 1999 tour as it was the moment the Quo live gig lost some magic for me. They were the first band I saw live, back in 1992 on the Live Alive Quo tour, and I went back every year after to the SECC in Glasgow, was down the front being crushed with the rest of the crowd as we jumped in unison to the beat of the music. The 1998 gig stands out as being one of my favourite of all time. But then 1999 saw a venue change, was off to building next door, The Armadillo, full of nice posh seats. I felt completely trapped in the space where my seat was, watching Quo running around stage enjoying themselves. First time I exited a Quo gig not covered in sweat, was quite dejected on the way home. So disappointed was I that when they booked into the same venue the following year I didn’t bother going, my disappointment at the venue was coupled with the release of the Famous album.
I did of course go back, and saw Quo many more times, but it was never the same as those 1992-98 gigs again. Though the re-union gigs were a total highlight of my gig going life, I still look back on those ’92-’98 gigs and being crammed into the crowd at the front bouncing up and down as some of the greatest nights of my life.

I found the 1999 tour a little sad, the band were in smaller venues. I saw Quo at Southport and was part of a small ripple of crowd movement at the front when TWH started. Quo had to work very hard to get the crowd on it's feet, which happened eventually. Very clear the band had lost so many of it's fans but retained an element of joe public interest. Not a great gig but real nice to see Quo so up close.
That said, I saw the band days later in Liverpool. Same set. Totally different crowd and heavier sound. Really good gig.
