... God. Francis Rossi. Maybe if the little show off had trumped the insecurity he could have been one of rock's legends, still pushing it artistically instead of coasting on past glories. Sadly, he's never been interested in the artistic side of it at all, which has become blatantly clear throughout the last decades: give the people an entertaining night, for the right price, and everyone's happy. (Except for us, who were sure that there was more to them. Were we wrong?)

This thread should be retitled "Bile, Bitterness and Cheap Sarcasm" It’s passionate fans with an opinion and disheartened by what Rossi and co have done to the b(r)and over the last 30 years. The reunion gigs showed a glimpse of what was and what could have been still ,had Rossi not thrown his toys out the pram with comments about fans and band members alike. The blame lies firmly at his and Porters feet in my opinion Cheers

This thread should be retitled "Bile, Bitterness and Cheap Sarcasm" That's slightly unfair Mr C. I don't see any bile? We all may disagree on where the band is at just now and the direction Francis took.

As regards to support They were second billing to Queen all those years ago no matter what you think. They were first up. That tells you. Skynyrd and Quo will be very entertaining. Southern fried Rock is having a massive surge at the moment with the like of Blackberry Smoke etc. And let’s face it Freebird is more of a WORLDWIDE Rock classic than any Quo song ! QUO still Doing it and doing it well.

They’ve decided to continue.
They and their manager were/are aware that they would continue on a smaller level.
They know losing Rick and the farce of the Last night etc will mean many people will have had enough.
However whatever I may think.
They bring happiness and enjoyment to people. Still do. In the world we live in, that’s a good thing. If like me, they aren’t for you any more. Play your music at home or see a band playing their songs in a style you prefer.
After three decades of them not being my band, maybe it gives me a bit of distance.

Everyone's entitled to thier opinion, but saying that Francis doesn't care about the artistic side at all is not right - he loves music and he's taught me new love of music even though I loved it before, and even though I don't love a lot of what he did after about 1984.

The reunion gigs showed a glimpse of what was and what could have been still ,had Rossi not thrown his toys out the pram with comments about fans and band members alike. The blame lies firmly at his and Porters feet in my opinion Cheers What happens now is entirely down to Francis and Porter but what happened 30 years ago and in the intervening time also was down to Rick and the way the music industry has so radically changed. The industry as it was in the 70s classic era, tour and album/single sales based no longer exists. You either adapt and go with if or you end up bankrupt and out of a job. They've made some bad choices over the years but when the industry is ruled by PR men and media advisers it's to be expected. The FF gigs were wonderful for all us old guys who lived through that classic era and for younger fans who never got to experience it. But they were only ever a window on former glories for fans and three band members to revel in. There was never any chance of it continuing, Alan's heath was already poor and by the second tour had deteriorated further, Rick was in poor health and struggling vocally and the main point for a modern day music industry, it just didn't make the money the regular band could. There would be no festival bookings for FF Quo, the tour audience would be limited to hard core fans so it was never going to carry on. The best we could have hoped for was maybe a handful of FF gigs a year which would have sold out but of course fate sadly intervened.
