Recording wise the RTYD version is the Winner for me, although Hello! is a true classic, never really been overly a Fan of it's production (perhaps it's an 'Age' thing?) strangely enough I've never been a Fan of Jeff Rich 'Live' but he was ok in the Studio, listening to Rick's rhythm on the 1991 version, it really has extra oomph to it

Agree with what Francis said in the OP
The RTYD version is better musically and the playing is far better but, that's not what it's about. It's about capturing a moment and grabbing someone's feeling.
