So here is a thread where we can discuss one particular album every month and I am hoping it might generate some good and interesting discussions, sharing of different viewpoints and such rossiswaistcoat, thanks for the idea mate I will write my own thoughts and such about the album later on. One more thing: I could have chosen to start in chronological order with the first album, but personally I felt it's more interesting to just chose an album out of their whole collection every month.

I really enjoy this album. The transition from Mountain Lady to Don't Stop Me Now is classic. Hell, I like every song on the album except Riverside. I have tried to convince myself that it's good, but I just can't do it. As for Rock N Roll, gag.

What a great idea this is. For me, this was the last Quo album I enjoyed, but I must admit, it took me a while to get in to it. I didn't think Something bout you Baby I Like, was a good single, but it did make the Top 10 in the UK. I thought an edited Mountain Lady would have been an excellent choice for a single. My favourite tracks, Never Too Late, Take Me Away, Carol, Mountain Lady, Riverside. I do like Rock n Roll, especially the Rossi guitar outro, but it was originally on the Just Supposin' album. This is also in my top 5 Quo album covers. 7/10

The run off to Mountain Lady ends too abruptly and should have continued in a 10 minute jam.

He said they were trying something new and no, he didn't now think it was an effective ending.

The sister album to Just Supposin. I am in the minority who think this is superior to its Sister. Rocks far harder and has less of the Chas and Dave style chorus.
The first album I really heard from them, apart from 12 gold bars. Which my Dad had bought through the Music club.
For years it was one of my favourite albums and played it all the time. Play it less now but that's true of Quo in general.
It lacks the classic longer song of the great Quo albums but and the production was as Rick would have said, 'is very much of its time'. The backing vocals are to be fair terrible at times.
But its the last great album for me. Just after Whatever you want outside of the albums 70-76.

I really like this one...it came in a rather good time of my life. I remember at the time that I thought it was very strange that there was a new album out so soon after the JS album.
Can't really name a favourite, but 3 tracks don't really are my cup of tea...Carol,Riverside and Don't stop (me now).
Good idea of a thread...

A good album I thought. Better than Just Supposin' and much, much better than the follow-up 1982.
"Riverside" is my favourite track.

God, I was 14 when it was released (had to check), but I remember I was already making excuses for liking them to my friends who were more metal minded. Only the single was a let down really, the rest is excellent stuff. The last classic (and FF) album. Love it.
(On the matter of drum computers: I do feel that Francis has got a lot to answer for as the drum sound from 81 onwards was mostly shite. Add the merry-go-round-guitar, and we have two possible reasons why the Quo never sounded as they should have. I'd say that could be easily rectified, but nobody seems to care any more.)

I agree, ask John back fulltime and Francis buys a proper Telecaster.

So I haven't listened to this album all the way through since it came out. I found it online and tried to listen all the way through. I'm almost speechless at my strong disappointment after this experience. Its such a chuggalong album, track after track after track. There's even one called, Enough is Enough. And shock horror, it also reminds me a lot of the recent CQ albums/sound such as QPQ. There's no great guitar interplay. It all sounds mechanical, let alone the drums. Was this first album with out John, or was that 1982? I think it was 1982 if he left in 81. I listened all the way through to the 1st four numbers. Absolutely loved Take Me Away because its quite heavy and a different rhythm to the other tracks. But by Falling In And Falling Out, I was listening until I remembered a track and then skipped to the next one. On reflection, and with what I know about the inner goings on with Quo, I can hear that this is mainly Francis and no great guitar play with him and Rick. I was disappointed that he sung Mountain Lady when I hoped it would be Alan. Maybe Al's voice wasn't as great as it was on the reunion tours but I'd have loved to hear him sing it. Never been a fan of the Rossi/Frost sound which dominates this album. So its a thumbs down from me except for Take Me Away.
