Great news for those of us who are interested in new music from the band. Doubtless many on here will tear it to shreds before even hearing it but that's music fans for you. At least he admits he's a control freak, which for Francis is progress.
I'm sure it will be at least as good as Ain't Complaining.

Thanks Curious. It does raise the question. Who is not getting what they want ? Does my edit of my post make it clearer? Yes it does. Thank you

Frame says he's enjoying the process of writing and making records.
I wish he'd had that mojo right after the reunion gigs.
Sigh.

The elephant in the room is the now clear animosity he and Rick had. Either Rick was furious with him and Francis simply kept out of his way. Or he was equally angry. I'm unclear. But that kind of pent up emotion does put a damper on one's mojo, I suspect. The hard part of us all to accept, me included, is that this stress has been removed.

I don't see being in charge as strangling all creativity, having been in the role myself. I think there were other reasons than his ego which stopped Francis wanting to do any more of the reunion. But that's where we see things differently.

It's crap...bloke I know heard him whistling the tunes as he was mending the bog next door to FR's house. The track listing is 1:Don't Expect Much 2:I Hate Rock 'n' Roll 3:Won't Give You More 4:Knob Off Blue Highway.

But that's where we see things differently. I do think he needs somebody next to him though to kick him once he gets too complacent. Furthermore he seems to confuse enjoying yourself on stage with giving a great (or even decent) performance. Final observation on this interview: when the woman asks for 'country' songs, he has to admit there aren't any, except for WSOL. Then he becomes a bit anxious because they will be playing their standard 'rock' set. How embarrassing for a pro musician: not having thought beforehand of maybe making some changes and most of all: not being able to add a song or two on the day itself. Quite a creative boss, wouldn't you agree?

How embarrassing for a pro musician: not having thought beforehand of maybe making some changes and most of all: not being able to add a song or two on the day itself. Quite a creative boss, wouldn't you agree? Cheers Charles, you clarified a point that I misheard in the interview. Yes, that makes more sense that they asked if he had any "country" songs. And I thought they said "cover" songs. Cool, I will edit the other transcript. But the interviewer makes it clear that this year, they have opened up the festival from pure country to include folk and rock. So were Quo expected to change their set? And as Francis points out, they go down well at a range of festivals with the exact same set, so why would they think to change it? But on the video though, you can see that Francis looks embarrassed for not thinking of this. And that is a different matter. My point about being the boss and not needing to strangle creativity was a general point and not specific to Francis. My point was that being a boss is not always about total control, as was the point being made by bluehighway. I think Francis' problem is still his lack of confidence in his musicianship. If he was more confident then he could have been like other musicians I admire such as Mark Knopfler or Jeff Beck - also control freaks because they go their own way - but they love interacting with other musicians. And they do that because they have both grown creatively over the years. I don't see that in Francis and this is why he surrounds himself with, I want to say less talented but that maybe unfair, why he surrounds himself with musicians/producers who don't bring out his musical strengths and push him to grow. Its just occurred to me, as I compose this response, if in the late 70s/80s, Pip Williams does play some of the key solos on albums because Francis either couldn't or was too out of it, at such a crucial development stage of his career, that music have a big impact on this confidence. Who likes being given a kick and then produces good work? Who likes being inspired by other talent who can appreciate your talent and together you make something better?? I think the latter works more successfully. But in the end, I think Francis desire for control is purely about lack of confidence and nothing else. Then he can have a nice, enjoyable time and doesn't feel all agitated inside.

Rossi has achieved what he always wanted in the band, complete control. With the sad passing of Rick he no longer had any obstacles in his way and is unfortunately now surrounded by yes men. A man and band/management so out of touch with what the fanbase truly want or wanted. Cheers

I'll offer to do a Hammond duet with Andy on number four, though that's also what can happen if your organ is old and dilapidated.
