Quoincidence, forgive me if this has been mentioned before but I’ve wondered why the mystery medley from MK was put out on the original RS 12” and then again on a compilation cd a couple years ago? Was it taken from the video tape recording?Just still can’t believe these audio tapes were “lost”.Thought you were the man to ask really Cheers No worries Mark, The Milton Keynes Medley was put onto the Whatever You Want; Essential Status Quo release that came out in September 2016... first time the audio / anything from the gig was officially released on CD. It was a remix from '86, completely different to the VHS mix which sounds very muddy. The remix still includes the overdubs etc and at the end you can hear the transition between Caroline and Paper Plane, not the songs themselves but Alan playing a few notes and Rick hitting an A chord twice... isn't too noticeable as it's during the fadeout. At the time I thought it was a brand new remix, but no. The edited film tapes and full 24 track audio reels were found way back in 2010, maybe earlier... the tapes are still in great condition. The unedited film reels however are missing, and weren't burnt in a warehouse fire... simply a load of cr*p. Cheers Thanks mate, didn’t know the full 24 track audio reels were found and in good nick. Seems so frustrating then that this hasnt seen an official audio release, there must be something to be done or someone to approach and get it out there. Would IMO be something a lot of people would buy Cheers

They say budget is an issue, but I think that's pure bullsh*t considering, as i've said elsewhere, they tried to buy Prince's archives for 31 Million. Only time will tell

Pre-ordered Flexible Friends. Nearly £19 is quite steep but the studio album is really good. Great bluesy rock and roll. The live discs are pretty much what I expected. Recording a live album in 1985 is never gonna sound great today, no matter what you do with the original recording. Well worth having in the old collection though.......... it's not an official live recording... That's the thing A live recording / recordings in general will hold up well and sound great, regardless of when it was recorded. QI is correct - the Marquee used to record and film many of their gigs but just on cassettes. Recording a live album in 1976 didn't sound so bad! But (without the flippancy) when you hear a properly mastered recording of a gig properly recorded I would argue that the engineers back in the 70s and 80s were far better than they are today! Some of the best live recordings I've heard are from the 70s.

The Doors earlier this year finally released their performance from IOW 1970 the picture and sound quality is amazing its like it was recorded yesterday

Well I gave in and got the Box set, the Studio album I really liked tbh, but the Live stuff is not the quality you'd expect in this day and age though...for the Collector's only really indeed, as other's have also posted

The Doors earlier this year finally released their performance from IOW 1970 the picture and sound quality is amazing its like it was recorded yesterday Thanks for that! Quite like The Doors The most intriguing thing about that footage is that it's in a widescreen / 16:9 format, as the standard at the time was 4:3... wonder what cameras were used to film that gig Also, just wait for these Deluxe Editions to pass by... should be some good things to come. All Universal have to be willing to do is spend a bit of money on one project and that should help fund the next one and so on... As I've said before. most of it has already been digitised... I'm pretty sure that started happening around mid 2000's. Just look at the stuff we got on the XS All Areas and Party Ain't Over Yet DVD's. Shame they had a bad source for the Wembley '74 gig as there's a better source out there that was used on this program The sound on this is miles better than the one on the Party doc
