They've done worse. However, let's hear that track done properly. Now I've heard that, no contest. Interesting hear what they might have been after. I liked that too. I think the whole AC album was a definite attempt to jump on the mid 80's pop rock/metal bandwagon thing that was happening, and I'm convinced that 'WGTL' was a riff on 'Is This Love', which was a massive hit.

Cov reminds me of Francis a lot, he ripped the heart and soul out of Whitesnake to be big in America, he succeeded where Quo failed but with Lordy, Bernie and especially Mickey gone the song writing brilliance and the essence of Whitesnake had gone too. They never recaptured the magic either on stage or in the studio.

Indeed - 79 to 82 Whitesnake with Lord and Paice were a great live band with some good studio albums...you could feel the blues influence Then with the louder/harder/heavy era it started to slide - until the cash cow of MTV glitz, pointy guitars, hairspray and spandex ruined the whole thing....

Let's face it...Whitesnake's video was a wee bit better than Quo's, eh?.... Tawny doing that wee dance at the bottom of the bed....sweet lordy mama. Can't say I noticed as a hormone filled lad in my mid teens....

About the song itself...well, for me it's not one of their best...but it isn't one of their worst either if compared to the rest of the 83-90 period.

Talking of America, the album "Status Quo" was released there in 1989. It was a mix of AC and ITAN plus a re-recorded RAOTW. Strangely, no Rick tracks.

I like 1987 but as a Cov solo album, it was such a mashup of musicians, producers and ill feeling it was amazing it came out at all.

Nobody has written as many songs about their own boaby as Coverdale has. He's obsessed with it. I'll see your Coverdale and raise you Kiss.

I'll see your Coverdale and raise you Kiss. That's just one song. Coverversion has done hunners. Many more where they came from....

Still no as many as Coverversion. Didn't shagging Paul Stanley make Samantha Fox realise she was gay?.... I read that somewhere. I suspect that no man could ever compete after him...... Samantha Fox: It was a wonderful time. I remember moving to New York. Every week I was flying back and forth to New York. I was constantly jet-lagged and burnt out. All I thought about New York was guns, gangs, rapes and drugs! That what I saw on TV, ya know? My bass player had moved to Albany. I knew him very well. I moved out my best friend and PA so it wasn't like I moved out all on my own. I had friends at the record company. I was recording one day with Full Force. We were working on the "Just One Night" record, I think. Paul was doing some solo stuff away from KISS. He really liked the "Naughty Girls" song I did. He got in touch with Full Force to work on a track. I was recording and he heard I was in the studio because he was working with Full Force at that time. I don't think anything ever came about with that track. I think he wanted to meet me because he just happened to turn up the day I was singing. Full Force introduced me to Paul. I was a big KISS fan anyway. Ten minutes after he left he called me from his limousine and asked me out on a date. I was new in the States and up for meeting new people. I wasn't thinking about a love affair at that time. I said "OK," and he said, "Well, how about tonight?" We went out for a great meal and he ended up showing me the America I didn't know. While I was recording the album Paul was doing a short tour of the States. In between the album I went on tour with him and saw how he did things — the rock 'n roll way. I had a great time with Paul and learned a lot from him. He's a very talented guy. We had a great love affair. I went on tour for six months on a bus with a band. Me and Paul tried to see each other when we could. He was then on tour with KISS. After that tour I became a tax exile because I was paying so much tax and all of my money was basically going to managers and the tax man. I went to live in Spain for a year and our love affair just kind of fizzled out. There were no arguments or bad feelings. It was just a case of being apart. I have great memories of Paul. He's a really nice guy. He's a bit older than me but what can I say? I'm sure he lied about his age then! KISS is still a fantastic band and in 1989 they'd done far more than I'd done. Listening to their stories and his wisdom was fantastic. Oh, I've thought of another one1

I understand why folk hammer the AC album as a whole as it stood for another nail in the coffin of the "old sound", but this track is cut from the same cloth as the rest of the tracks on the album, so if this one is acceptable, are the rest not? Is this one a better tune? Not sure it's any better or worse than the rest i reckon. Nah, it's just well crafted and whatever sounds is going on in it, it is quite emotive in a certain sense. I think we all have had that someone in our lives, whom the song is about so we can relate to it....If not, then I'm a fucking soft prick, who is too nice AC the actual song isn't bad really, just the video ruins it. One For The Money could have been a very good song but, it's too much of it's time the way it was recorded and performed. Don't Mind If I Do....Controversial but, I could hear the original band playing that, with less synth obviously The rest, I could take or leave tbh. I don't know what song they wanted Magic to be. One minute it's pop, then rock, then pop and then there's a fucking Spanish guitar on it... I think you're right, it is well crafted. I'll stick my neck out and say that i think most of the album is. Suprised that Rossi seems to hate it, i thought it'd be right up his strasse. Pop wise, i think it's great. Quo wise, not so. It's a refreshing album to have in the canon if you like that sort of thing too, and i thought it was a big step up from ITAN, which was kind of a weak album musically, there was something "missing" from the layers of guitars, and the bass sound was pretty thin. AC seemed to have filled that sonic gap a bit if you know what i mean. A bit fuller. But yeah, would have been so much better with a rejig of the track listing with The Reason For Goodbye and Lean Machine in there. Maybe That's Alright too. I'd have taken the title track, Another Shipwreck, and Magic out.
Better say, i was 13 when this came out. Just hitting puberty he he. Maybe tracks like Who Gets The Love? got me a bit because of that. Erm.....
