WYW...at the time of its release I thought the intro was pure genius, the song not so much, although the band did make something out of a plodder of a song. Don't ever play it really through and overall not that keen on it...it was trying to make amends and return to a place they had mistakenly left, or so they thought, when they recorded RAOTW and Can't Stand the Heat, but it was all a bit late really, the damage had been done.
Whilst looking at something else on YouTube I came across these 'acoustic' Interpretations, the first interesting due to the church setting and the last involving violin playing 'bikers': Enjoy?

There’s quite a funny skiffle ‘where’s me washboard’ version by these guys.

That clip of the cello quartet are giving 90's Quo a run for their money... or is it just as fast as the Live Alive Quo

It's not that bad... it's just become so over played you're sick to death of hearing the fucking thing and it's been in the same place in the set for almost 20 odd years

That original intro from -79 is one of greatest intros ever...the song itself don't have the same class.

It's not a bad song. It's good.
Great intro, great catchy riff, great chorus.

The intro is elevated into it's own class because it has a tone/effect that's hard to replicate and a style that's got little nuances of playing that are unique to it's author, much like the Down Down intro.
After that, it simply becomes a song that most could play along to. But that intro has magic.

When it came out back then I loved the song, but thanks to the overplaying on both radio and in their sets I have become totally bored with it through the years

Its probably their last decent song to be honest after that came pure lazy tracks to fill albums.

I enjoyed the young duo Fuze and their electric violin versions of both WYW and Caroline. Good to see Rick having a good time too.

I enjoyed the young duo Fuze and their electric violin versions of both WYW and Caroline. Good to see Rick having a good time too. It could have been very dull but they had a real spark about them. Francis used to say about 'Caroline' having a French flavour in his mind. Never really heard that in the song myself until now and hearing this duo's version on violins. Rhino was taking an interest. He was very handy with a violin in a previous life.

I am so glad I only just found Quo. I have so much more stuff to listen to than you do. I love the song and the album.
