I saw them and they were better than any Status Quo incarnation I ever saw. They made Quo look like a second rate band without any saving graces.

Saw the Darkness in a pub in Lowestoft in 2002, before they hit the big time. I've got the Permission To Land album, favourite tracks being, Growing On Me, Love Is Only A Feeling & Friday Night but soon got fed up with Justin Hawkins vocals.

But still better than the dreadful ordeal you endured back in 75

Hi All, I like them and just like Quo and many other bands they have their off moments, just depends what you want the music you listen too to measure up to. I dare say they do not appeal to many as appealing to others it's either like or not simples!...
Geoff.

Geoff. Anyone on the board caught using the word ‘simples’ will be immediately banned with no recourse. You have been warned.

I like them, they're fun. They just want to cheer everyone up, and there's nothing wrong with that. Fun live. First album full of great songs. Don't like the vocals but they great at what they do.
That first album was always gonna be miles better than anything else as those songs had been kicking around for years. They can still write great, fun tunes though
