I was at the Friday gig. Great line up with The Alarm and INXS also on the bill. So was I,were you the bloke in the White T shirt? To be really honest I thought Queen were incredible bearing in mind I've never owned a Queen album. It was the first time I'd seen the new line up and wasn't the only one muttering "They're in a rush" and "This ain't Status Quo".It was also odd to see the band who no-one would fancy of following on stage from 74 to 84 relegated to support band with a timed slot, special guests my arse. Queen were absolutely brilliant, Freddie ruled that stage. Without any doubt, one of the greatest rock frontmen of all time. I also went to Knebworth later that year. Quo I thought were fantastic, bearing in mind I thought I would never see Rossi and Parfitt onstage ever again blasting out classic numbers. I didn't have much time to think about the other band members. That would come later on. White T shirt moi?

On stage in Denmark at 12:30, Knebworth at 4:30 and Switzerland 22:30, and Jeff Rich collapsed at one of them

I saw Queen support Mott The Hoople at the Southend Kursaal in 1973 and I thought they were crap, with to many 50s Rock n Roll covers in their set, but 13 year's later at Wembley Stadium I thought they were incredible, I could see they were far more superior to the current Quo.

I went on the Friday. It rained when Queen were on. It was sunny during the afternoon. I had no idea who the new guys were that had replaced Alan and Pete. I must have already seen them do Rollin' Home on TOTP, but perhaps just assumed that they were session men filling in temporarily. After all, we had been used to Alan not being around during the Back to Back campaign. Funny thing I knew exactly what they were and what was happening ... I guess I was a comparatively new fan then and also tend to watch the press like a bloodhound over bands I like.

I have a newspaper clipping somewhere, i'll try and dig it out.

I think Red Sky was the current single around August, In The Army Now, I think was released around October.

Now i think about it, i've never seen this referred to in all the years of SQ MB's and forums. But when you watch some of those '86 live gigs that are available, it's no suprise. Was this pre or post septum? "Heartthrob".....

Was this pre or post septum? "Heartthrob"..... Thank you for that... I'd never heard about that either. "We may have to cancel some gigs", but they didn't and on the day that story was published they were playing in Germany. Edit; It was probably pre-septum... Still heavy on coke in 86. Rick and Francis look awful in *most* pictures from around this time.

Went to the Saturday gig. Had been used to seeing Quo indoors except for Crystal Palace and MK, so a bit of lack of atmosphere with no lights etc Thought they played well enough and a bit lively. Possibly a sense they had something to prove.
Apart from that, it did feel odd seeing the new line up. Remember seeing Mike 'man of the people' Peters from The Alarm talking to fans in a bar.
Went to Knebworth as well, the 3 gigs in a day precursor to Rock til You Drop! A case of pleased they hadn't disappeared forever from the scene but still adjusting to the new look and sound.

Heart attack, i took it to mean. No ..."heartthrob" means "an object of desire or lust."....usually among teenage girls. Fuds like David Cassidy and David Essex were always described as "Heartthrobs" back in the day. Aye i know what a heartthrob is. I mean, i took it as a bad taste play on words by a tabloid. Rossi had a heartthrob and collapsed.
